Product Description

The electrofishing seine net is a specialized capture device designed exclusively for scientific and regulatory use by professional biologists, researchers, and government agencies.

It is primarily used in riverine environments during electrofishing operations for fish population assessments, including counting, measuring, weighing, and tagging. Fish are temporarily stunned by a controlled electric current, safely collected, re-oxygenated, and released back into their natural habitat.

⚠️ Electrofishing is strictly prohibited for commercial or recreational fishing and is only permitted for scientific research purposes.

Technical Design

• Fine mesh nylon or polypropylene netting (Delta curtain net)

• Reinforced machine-sewn borders

• Solid protective bottom panel

• Weighted lead line to maintain bottom contact

• Designed to prevent fish escape beneath the net

Technical Recommendations – Electrofishing

• Use direct current (DC) only

• Adjust voltage according to water conductivity

• Never exceed 1.5–2 amps

• Avoid prolonged exposure in the same location

• Keep fish away from the anode at all times (risk zone ≈ 50 cm)

• Continuously monitor fish condition and reduce power if stress occurs

Wading Electrofishing Applications

Wading electrofishing is recommended for:

• Narrow streams

• Shallow water

• Low turbidity

• Rocky or heterogeneous substrates

This non-lethal method is particularly effective for species that burrow into the substrate, such as sand darters.

⚠️ Formal electrofishing training is strongly recommended due to electrocution risks.

Team Requirements

Minimum team composition:

1. One electrofishing unit operator

2. One or two net handlers

3. One specimen and habitat data collector

Two teams are recommended for streams wider than 7 meters.
