GALVANIZED JAW-JAW TURNBUCKLE

Turnbuckles are integrated into rigging assemblies to allow fine adjustment of rope or cable tension.

These devices are used in construction and renovation projects, aircraft and sailboats, manufacturing facilities, NET INSTALLATION and piping systems.

LONG LIFE – Our turnbuckles use hot-dip galvanizing to protect steel from moisture, corrosion and other elements. No other type of protective coating can give steel such longevity, so you can be sure of using our turnbuckle for years to come.

A turnbuckle is a device for securing a rope to a fixed part, with the possibility of adjusting the rope’s tension. Before the invention of this device, a sailboat’s shrouds were tensioned by means of a ride through sheep’s headlands.

This device is mainly used in the nautical field (shrouds, ropes, etc.), but can also be used to tension a clothesline.

The most common model consists of :

a first element 1,

fixed to a structure S by a shackle-type device, is extended by a threaded rod ;
an intermediate body 2

is screwed onto the first element;
the last element 3

comprises a second threaded rod (in reverse pitch to the first) which screws onto the intermediate body,

and a device for attachment to the cable C.

When the intermediate body is rotated, while blocking rotation of the threaded rods, the device changes length, resulting in a change in cable tension. Locknuts are added to secure the system at the desired setting.

Hydraulic rigging screws are also available for frequent rigging changes (backstays), as well as rigging battens that allow the rope length to be changed without exerting tension (light sails).

Available in several sizes and configurations.

Installation of Turnbuckles

Proper installation of any equipment is vital for safety and effectiveness, and turnbuckles are no exception. Installing a turnbuckle is simple with the following steps:

1. Unscrew all the end fittings from the main body until it extends to the full length.

2. Connect your desired fitting on both ends.

3. Rotate the turnbuckles until you reach the desired tension.

4. Tighten the nuts, if any, down to the body.

As you perform the installation, be sure to keep the working load limit in mind.

Uses of Turnbuckles on a Rigging and Lifting Job Site

A turnbuckle is a handy tool that makes lifting and rigging easier in the following ways:

· Turnbuckles are used to increase or decrease tension on a load to make minor adjustments.

· A turnbuckle helps to accommodate a difference in sling length, ensuring equal load distribution.

· Turnbuckles can be used to equalize the load.

Concisely, turnbuckles are used to pick up the slack on unbalanced loads.
